Reporting

All adults in the state of Texas are considered mandatory reporters. You must report if you suspect that a person under 18 is being harmed, harming others, or harming themselves, past or present, if it has not already been addressed by the appropriate authorities.

Red Flags

  • Verbal/Emotional Abuse: Non-physical harm like threats, insults, screaming, constant monitoring
  • Physical Abuse: Any intentional uses of physical touch to cause fear, intimidate, injure or assert power and control. Ex; hitting, shoving, strangling, pinching, etc.
  • Sexual Abuse: Any unwanted sexual activity that occurs without willing, active, and unimpaired consent which can include using force, making threats or taking advantage of victims not able to give consent.
  • Digital Abuse: Using technology to intimidate, threaten, or suppress an individual
